THE ISLAMIC MODEL IN COUNSELING AND PSYCHOLOGICAL THERAPY

Abstract

This research aimed to identify the Islamic model in counseling and psychological therapy, as envisaged by many valuable books and references in addition to the point of view of the researcher.

Through the chapters of the research, we find that the Islamic model contains all aspects related to the mental health of the individual, which helps the counselor / therapist to complete his work to the fullest. Despite all this, Islamic religious guidance and therapy has not received any attention compared to foreign studies in this field, although studies in recent years have shown that religious counseling and therapy have succeeded in modifying and changing many behaviors, and in psychological and social compatibility.

The research showed that the Islamic model is based on a comprehensive and integrated view of the human being. The Islamic model did not overlook the formation of personality and its determinants, the ways of its structure and its patterns, because it is the integrated entity of the individual, which can show the causes of health and disease and the dominant and complementary course of the guidance and therapeutic process.

In this context, scholars have confirmed the on their difference in their religions and orientations in the importance of psychological counseling as one of the basic methods of extension, especially in the age of technology, in which the individual suffers from alienation and the conflict of material and spiritual values (Al-Quds Open University, 2009).

As we have seen clearly that religion is a means to achieve faith and peace and psychological security, a gift from God for the good of man, helps him to normal life. Where Islam came as a light and guidance to dispel the darkness of minds and hearts, and achieve the human security, happiness and safety.
