THE EFFECTIVENESS OF A PROPOSED OBSERVATION CARD IN REVEALING SOME CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS OF STUDENTS OF THE BASIC EDUCATION STAGE IN KHARTOUM STATE

Dr. Khalida Mohammed Mahmoud

Abstract: The study aimed at designing a proposed observation card and recognizing its effectiveness in revealing the critical thinking skills of pupils in the basic education stage in the state of Khartoum. Its importance comes in that it is an extension of studies in revealing the critical thinking abilities of children in Sudan - despite its scarcity - and the card may contribute The proposed observation is the development of methods and means of evaluating critical thinking, especially in light of the lack of basic education curricula in Sudan for detection tools that are suitable for the culture of the region and the study aims mainly to know the effectiveness of the observation card as a tool to identify critical thinking skills Critic (knowledge of assumptions - interpretation - evaluation of discussions - deduction - conclusion) and the total score of students of the basic education stage in the state of Khartoum, and knowledge of the differences in performance averages between the observation card and the Watson and Glaser test for critical thinking skills as criterion test and the study was limited to a sample Of (128) male and female basic education stage students in Khartoum state. The researcher used the observation form along with the Watson and Glaser test as a criterion test. The objective limits are limited to skills of knowledge of assumptions - interpretation - evaluation of discussions - deduction – conclusion And the overall score for students of basic education stage in Khartoum State, and knowing the differences in the performance averages between the observation card and the Watson and Glacier test for critical thinking skills as a criterion test. followed With this descriptive and analytical method, which is concerned with studying Relationships and shows the differences between the variables by collecting and analyzing data according to known methods of analysis, and proposing a basic hypothesis: There is a correlational relationship of statistical significance between the observation card on the axes (knowledge of assumptions - interpretation - evaluation of discussions - deduction - conclusion) and the total degree, in the middle Students of the basic education stage in Khartoum state and between the Watson and Glacier test for critical thinking as a criterion test and for data processing the researcher used statistical packages for social sciences (spss) and the results resulted in no statistically significant differences between the students' average performance in critical thinking skills (knowledge of assumptions - interpretation - Debates Calendar - Inference - Conclusion) and the overall score on the observation form with Watson's test Glaser as a criterion test, and there were no differences between the students ’averages on the skill of knowledge of assumptions and interpretation, discussion evaluation, deduction and conclusion separately, and on the overall score on the note card and the Watson and Glacier test as a criterion test.Based on the results, the researcher recommended that goal of designing evaluation tools and the detection of critical thinking skills be included in the objectives of the curricula at the basic education stage.
