THE EFFICACY OF A PROPOSED TRAINING PROGRAM TO DEVELOP FUTURE THINKING SKILLS THROUGH INTERACTIVE STRATEGIES TO DEVELOP THEM AMONG FEMALE TEACHERS OF ELEMENTARY EDUCATION IN THE KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA


Abstract:

Education is one of the things that should be carried into developing steps in order to suit teachers’ experience and skills in the educational process. Creative and critical thinking skills are of the most important skills for the future of education. Therefore, this research aims at building an effective programme to help teachers learn about and practice interactive strategies that improve creative and critical thinking skills in the educational setting. A lot of current research is interested in studying the influence of such programmes on students’ learning in the classroom through using interactive strategies. So, in this research the programme suggested is for training teachers’ creative and critical thinking skills through interactive strategies. The research sample consisted of 118 female teachers from various cities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during summer training programme in 2018. For achieving the aim of the study, a quasi-experimental quantitative and qualitative approach is used; and data was collected by using both pre- and post- tests. The results showed that there is a significant impact in improving teachers’ thinking skills through interactive strategies. I recommend making teachers’ preparing sustainable process during their working life because they are an essential constituent of the educational process. I hope this research would contribute to improving skills of the future and the strategies for cultivating them by teachers and supervisors.
