Abstract
This study aims to compare the emergence of the Islamic military alliance to fight terrorism, as one of the most recent military alliances to fight terrorism, with the origin and development of the North Atlantic Alliance and the international coalition against ISIS. This comparison comes in the context of seeking to explore the similarities and differences between the three alliances. Consequently, the central question that embodies the problem of the study is what are the similarities and differences between the Islamic military alliance to fight terrorism, both NATO and the international coalition to fight terrorism? The significance of the study is embodied in the fact that it is based on the comparison between the Islamic military alliance to fight terrorism, in terms of origins and motives, with both NATO and the international coalition to fight ISIS. To achieve the goal of the study, the researcher has adopted the descriptive, comparative, and inductive approaches to achieve the goal of the study. The study concluded that the origins and motives of the Islamic military alliance to fight terrorism are different from the origins and motives of NATO and its international coalition to defeat ISIS. The Iranian regional expansion, especially in the vicinity of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, has posed a direct threat to the security and stability of the Kingdom and the Sunni axis countries led by Saudi Arabia.
