Abstract
The study aimed to present a clear picture of the Constructive Evaluation Strategy, and to identify its concept, the importance of using it in university teaching and the seven constructive evaluation strategies which meet the three Royce Sadler’s conditions as well as its objectives, basic principles, implementation procedures and the role of the teacher and learner in it, along with its positive and active role in stimulating the motivation of students to learn.
The study follows theInductive Descriptive Approach through theoretical review foreducation literature and criticism and analysis for the previous studies which handle the constructive evaluation strategies.
The most important result:
Most of the previous studies approach the effectiveness of the constructive evaluation strategy in basic and secondary stages, while the current study dealt with its importance in university education.
The researcher observes – after considering the previous studies that there is a deficiency in using the formative constructive evaluation and that the percentage of the teachers who use it is very small or medium despite of its importance in developing thinking and self-evaluation among learners. And that the use of constructive evaluation has proven its effectiveness in academic achievement, yet there are some difficulties that limit from using it, like too many students in a class.
Using this strategy is very essential in university learning, due to its effective role in stimulating motivation in the students, in addition to its interest in measuring higher capacities for learning.
The constructive evaluation strategy activates the role of the learner in the classroom and makes the learner a main and active partner in the learning process and has an active and positive role in the teaching and learning process as well as developing higher patterns of thinking among students..
The study recommends the importance of using of the constructive evaluation strategy at university due to its effective role in agitating the motivation for learning and develop several aspects of thinking among the students therefore the researchers designs a model illustrates the method of designing the constructive evaluation strategy.
