SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH IN SAUDI UNIVERSITIES AS A MECHANISM TO ACHIEVE THE GOALS OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN LIGHT OF THE KINGDOM'S VISION 2030


Abstract:

     This study aimed to review the importance of scientific research in general and the role of scientific research in Saudi universities in achieving the goals of sustainable development in light of the Kingdom's vision 2030 in particular.

The study dealt with the most basic concepts of sustainable development according to the Kingdom’s vision and to identify scientific research and its most important challenges and means of facing these challenges. The study relied on the descriptive approach to find out scientific research and the extent of its importance and role as one of the tools to achieve the goals of sustainable development, and the study reached a number of results, the most important of which is that scientific research in Saudi universities plays an important and fundamental role in sustainable development in the Kingdom, especially with what it seeks towards its ambitious 2030 plan, but it faces several Challenges and obstacles, and then it must increase interest in scientific research and provide and harness all the capabilities available to it. The study recommended several recommendations for decision makers, including: Working to activate the relationship between research institutions and all economic sectors in the country, and directing research to issues related to society's problems and development goals and their dimensions, while adopting a strategy for marketing the results of scientific research in all fields. And increasing the role of research centers and their spread in Saudi universities.
