THE ROLE OF CHARITABLE WORK IN ALLEVIATING UNEMPLOYMENT AND POVERTY

Abstract The problem of poverty and unemployment is one of the biggest problems that all societies suffer from, so can charitable work be a way to overcome the problems of poverty and unemployment? The objectives of this research are to identify the importance of charitable work and its role in combating poverty and unemployment, and also to realize the work according to the jurisprudence of priorities in applying the purposes of charitable work in the field of poverty and unemployment. The researcher adopted an analytical approach to some Islamic texts to address the phenomena of poverty and unemployment, as well as analyzing the social and economic legal purposes, and a deductive way, by deducting innovative methods and approaches from Islamic legal texts, and make it features of contemporary charitable work. Among the results of the research: 1. Charity work is of great importance in achieving economic balance, fighting poverty, and creating job opportunities. 2. The Holy Qur’an, as well as the Sunnah of the Prophet, paid attention to charitable work and addressing the problem of poverty and unemployment. Therefore, charitable work appeared since the beginning of Islam, to be an educational, social and economic means for the Muslim community. 3. Charitable work needs to establish awareness of its importance, rationalize its actions, and renew its means on the basis of work according to priorities, and arrange them according to the urgent needs of the community.
